President’s Report (Jack Keightley)
The material for rebuilding our target butts will be delivered on the afternoon of Friday February 5, 2010. Dave Walters, Jack Keightley and other volunteers will be cutting the material Friday eve for our workday on Saturday February 6, 2010. Additional help is needed for our work day if you’re available we will begin at 7:00am. (Anyone interested can meet for breakfast at Ginghams @ 6:00am / Lindbergh & Lemay Ferry Rd. location.)
Additional dead deer were found at the range last month. As members we need to be aware and keep an eye out for any illegal activity and report it to the Parks department immediately. If illegal acts continue we could be in jeopardy of losing our club privileges. Jack Keightley or Rich Kurtzeborn will be talking w/ Tom Ott w/ St. Louis County Parks about getting some updated signage on the front & back entrance.
Jack expressed his appreciation for our clubs support this year for our SCA adopt a family in need program. This year we were fortunate enough to help two families in need and provide toys, food, & happiness throughout the holiday season. The club received touching thank you cards from both families expressing their gratitude. They are available to read. (See Jack)
Jack reminds us to be conscious of our conduct while on the range. Please keep in mind that this is a family oriented sport and we should all conduct ourselves in a professional manner.
Vice-President’s Report (Charlie Natsch)
Charlie discussed our upcoming SCA Banquet that will be held March 13, 2010 at the Oakville Elks Lodge beginning at 6:00pm. Bob Urbanek is currently working on our menu and we will have costs & final menu nailed down at the February meeting. The club will provide soda but alcohol may be purchased from the Elks bar. (We will need a few volunteers to help setup beforehand)
Charlie also discussed our Valentine’s Day Shoot on February 21, 2010 beginning at 8:00am and cards must be turned in by 3:00pm.
Secretary Report (Jon Adams)
Our December newsletter is on our website however, our website is currently offline. It is in the process of being revamped by Jamie Adams and will hopefully go live before our February meeting. Please send photos of your 2009 Harvest to me at jadams@cbgundaker.com. Please be patient as we work to improve our new site. Jamie Adams has volunteered to take over Web Site administration and we are all appreciative. The use of electronic communication will be a great tool once we iron out the wrinkles. The cost savings are significant and 2010 will see better communications.
Treasurer’s Report (Steve Sykora)
Steve reported on the state of our budget and we are in excellent financial condition. Expenses included the payout for our club insurance and deposit for our SCA Banquet. Steve also made a deposit into our account. Steve has every penny accounted for in extreme detail, so if you are interested give him a call.
Range Captain Report (Dave Nesbitt)
Again, we are reminded of the upcoming work day on February 6, 2010 at 7:00am. We will need a full crew and hopefully we can get 30 plus to help us again this year. We will be replacing butt targets. Dave also mentioned that we will also be getting replacement target cores for several of our new targets as a result of Manufacturer’s defects. Dave is finalizing the clubs selection of our Logo/decals. The decals will be a good way to promote the club and our love for archery and hunting.
Master Bowhunter Recorder (Earl Willenbrock )
Earl announced that so far we have 23 harvest for 2009. Please send your photos to either Earl or Jon Adams (secretary) Earl is actively updating the records and asked that everyone with an archery kill to report, to please update our club records. Earl also needs to know who needs the plaques, and updated harvest engravings. (Remember before anyone qualifies for a trophy or plaque they first must have at least 8 hours of donated club time.)
Park Representative Report (Richard Kurtzeborn)
Rich is talking w/ the parks department to try and have them provide us w/ updated signage for our range at both entrances and throughout our range. Again we must focus our efforts to report any violations to the parks department immediately. Our continued appreciation goes to the parks department for allowing us to assist them in bringing such a greatly used facility to the public.
Membership Secretary Report (Jeanine Smith)
Jeanine discussed membership renewals and is getting the final count on new members in order to update the current roster of members which is around 173 and counting. Jeannine unfortunately had to leave the meeting early but will have updated information to us for our next meeting.
Tournament Secretary Report (Paul Poth)
Paul announced the start of the Tuesday night league at Town Hall Archery in Belleville begins February 2, 2010 and runs thru April 6, 2010. Cost is $10.00 night/per person. Currently there are about 34 signed up. Anyone interested in joining should see Paul Poth.
Old Business
The proposed constitutional changes in regards to lifetime memberships and associated fees will be discussed further. Jack did not have all the information present and will be gathering information to present during the next meeting.
Club members voted on the SCA logo/decal that they like best. Majority vote wins and results will be shown at our next meeting.
