(See Vice-President’s report below.)
Vice-President’s Report (Charlie Natsch)
Charlie expressed his appreciation & gratitude to all who helped make the SCA Annual Awards Banquet a success. A great big thanks to Bob Urbanek for the menu preparation and organization and also to Mitch. We had a good turnout, but it can always be improved. Your support of our organization is very important & much appreciated as always.
Also, Jack had spoken to Tom Ott w/ the St. Louis County Parks about having SCA host an instructional shooting seminar for June 12, July 17, & August 21, 2010. Beginning at 9:30 am and having different times scheduled for beginner, intermediate, & advanced shooting levels.
The club is also looking for someone to step up, plan, & organize the SCA May fishing trip at Mark Twain Lake. If you would like to do so please see either Charlie or Jack.
The fun shoots are just around the corner & begin on April 7, 2010. If you know of anyone that may be interested in joining the SCA please invite them to our Wednesday night fun shoots.
Secretary Report (Jon Adams)
I am proud to report that we now have full control of the SCA website & that it’s now online and up and running. For those who are unaware our address is www.southcountyarchers.com. Please visit this site as often as you like. Keep in mind that we are gradually making improvements & updates. On the site you’ll find current & past issues of the SCA Newsletter, online membership form, Calendar of events, photos of previous years harvest, club constitution & more. Please share this address with anyone you know who would like to be a part of our great organization. Again, thanks to Jamie Adams as the new administrator. If you have an email address please inform me so that you can receive the monthly newsletter either via email or viewing from our website. Your cooperation is appreciated as we try to deliver the SCA Newsletter and information in the most cost effective manner. For those who do not have Internet access or an email address the club will soon be mailing those newsletters to you. Thank you for your understanding. Continue to send photos of your 2009 Harvest to me at jadams@cbgundaker.com. Please be patient as we work to improve our new site.
Treasurer’s Report (Steve Sykora)
Our club continues to be financially sound thanks to its dedicated members and SCA fundraising activities over the past year. Expenses included the payout for our club fishing trip deposit, Awards Banquet to Elks, plaques for Valentine’s shoot & Annual Awards plaques, & DJ entertainment for the Awards Banquet. Steve also made a deposit into our account. Every penny is accounted for, but if you have any questions give Steve a call.
Range Captain Report (Dave Nesbitt)
Dave was unfortunately unable to attend the meeting.
Master Bowhunter Recorder (Earl Willenbrock )
Earl announced that so far we have 28 deer harvests for 2009, but no turkey reports as of yet.. We had 39 harvests reported for the 2008 season. Earl also wanted to remind us about reporting your first kills w/ a bow for SCA members. Members are eligible to receive plaques if they have their 8 hours of volunteer time per year. Please remember to send your photos to either Earl or Jon Adams (secretary) Earl is actively updating the records and asked that everyone with an archery kill to report, to please update our club records. Earl also needs to know who needs the plaques, and updated harvest engravings. (Remember before anyone qualifies for a trophy or plaque they first must have at least 8 hours of donated club time.)
Park Representative Report (Richard Kurtzeborn)
Rich was going to speak to the parks representative to see if they would provide & install a flagpole at our shelter. ( This motion was tabled by Marshall Sidwell) Again we must focus our efforts to report any violations to the parks department immediately. Our continued appreciation goes to the parks department for allowing us to assist them in bringing such a greatly used facility to the public.
Membership Secretary Report (Jeanine Smith)
Jeanine was unable to attend our meeting, but reminds that several members may be coming up for renewal soon and please see her for details.
Tournament Secretary Report (Paul Poth)
Paul announced that he will be moving out of the area and regretfully will have to resign as tournament secretary for the SCA. Paul mentioned the success of our Valentine’s Day Shoot and how much fun everyone had. (Congratulations again to Paul Poth for his recent retirement & 24 plus years serving in the U.S. Armed Forces)
Old Business
The proposed constitutional changes in regards to lifetime memberships and associated fees will be discussed further. Jack did not have all the information present and will be gathering information to present during the next meeting.
New Business
Marshall Sidwell made a motion to see if the St. Louis County Parks Dept. would provide a permanent flagpole at our pavilion.
Nominations will be taken at our April meeting for Tournament Secretary. Paul Poth announced he will be moving out of the area and is resigning.
Steve Sykora asked about digging out around our pavilion and replacing the dirt w/ 4” of rock so that are area wouldn’t become so muddy during wet weather.
Charlie Natsch made a motion to go ahead w/ the rock as long as the cost does not exceed $350 dollars. This motion was second by Marshall Sidwell.
Lloyd Keightley was going to check into the cost of Bobcat rental for the rock.
Steve Sykora also tabled the idea that the club should vote to see if we want to get back into the MBH for 2011.
Marshall Sidwell also brought flyers for the Veteran’s Day Shoot. Anyone needing flyers to pass out please see Marshall.
Prototypes of New SCA logo T-shirts are well on their way and will soon be approved by CharlieNatsch
Jack & Charlie will be working on a club “Code of Conduct” throughout the year. Please set an example while on the range.
Please help us Celebrate & Congratulate Paul Poth in his recent retirement from the Armed Forces. Thank You for your 24 plus years of dedicated service.
Please support our SCA members who have family & friends serving in the Armed Forces.
