Meeting Minutes for December 2011 Meeting Read by an officer and Accepted by members present.

Officer Reports

President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)

Wayne welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the New Year and hoped everyone had an enjoyable holiday season.

Wayne, addressed our current membership numbers and how they've fallen over the past few years partly due to economic factors and asked members to help promote the growth of the SCA's membership again.  If  you know someone who shares your love of the sport & hunting or used to be a member in the past, ask them to come and join us.  We can all definitely benefit from an increase in membership so....oooooooo let's get out and "Spread the Word."  In addition, when our Wednesday evening fun shoots begin if we could all be mindful of those around us and be more courteous with our language on and around the range.

"Sweetheart Shoot"- Cancelled.  A motion was passed to cancel this year's sweetheart shoot because of not having enough time to plan & promote this year's event. In the past, the club has been losing money because of the timing and how weather can play a big factor in attendance. We will re-evaluate for 2013.

Wayne and a few other will be going to the bale building to straighten up, check target inventory & condition of targets for upcoming replacement purchases and check quantity of our left over metal target frames.

Vice-President’s Report (Tom Rizzo)

Tom talked about new ways to improve and grow our organization and lead by example.             

Secretary Report (Jon Adams)

There were some nice last minute archery success stories.  If you would like your harvest pics posted just send us a photo to:  pics@southcountyarchers.com.

Treasurer’s Report (Steve Sykora)

Steve wrote a few checks for SCA Christmas party, Veteran's Flyers, & others. 

Range Captain's Report (Jim Keener & Stan Hults)

Jim, pulled targets and checked the range.  He found 10 Butte's need repair, 2 need replacement, & more bow holders need to be welded back to the metal racks. Jim also mentioned that we could use some more kids arrows.

Master Bowhunter Recorder (Earl Willenbrock )

Earl reported 22 deer kills thus far for the 2011 harvest report.  He also reminded us about 8 hours or club community service in order to receive an award.

Park Representative Report (Richard Kurtzeborn)

Richard was busy reserving and confirming our upcoming SCA shoot dates to reserve the pavilion.

Membership Secretary Report (Jeanine Smith)

Tournament Secretary Report (Dustin Schwartz)

Winter League will be starting January 31, 2012 at N & M Archery located at 1524 Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold, MO 63010. Cost will be $10 dollars per/night for 10 weeks. See Dustin Schwartz for details.  314-757-0285.

New Business

Sweetheart shoot cancelled for 2012.

Work day re-scheduled for Saturday February 25, 2012 8:00 am. A back-up workday if needed will be March 24, 2012 same time.

Winter League Begins January 31, 2012 at 7:00p at N & M Archery in Arnold. See Dustin Schwartz for Details 314-757-0285.

Donation bucket will be placed at our Wednesday night fun shoots. Proceeds will go towards Veteran's

There will now be a sign-up sheet for setup & break down of targets.  Those who setup will shoot free that night and those who break down the range will shoot free the following Wednesday night.

We are in dire need of sponsors and donations for our fast approaching Veteran's Shoot.  Please help with gathering prize donations and sponsorships to make this year's Veteran's shoot a great success. Please see Wayne Sluhan, Dustin Schwartz, Marshall Sidwell & Becky Douglas for further information.

Wayne is also looking for Volunteers for the upcoming Cabela's Hunting days February 18th & 19th.

Wayne also asked if any members could help out at the Sporting clays events for Joshua Chamberlain Society on September 8, 2012.  More details to come.

Jack mention that our needy families were very appreciative for the donations they received from SCA for the Holiday Season.

We will be getting prices for SCA club T-shirts, polo-shirts, & hats.  More Details to follow.

Tournament shooters cannot shoot alone & you cannot score your own score cards.

For upcoming Tournaments there will not be a Bow Hunter Class just a Men's Open Class.

New Rule for SCA club hunting and fishing outings. One paid member may bring one non-member to help increase our attendance and help promote new membership in our organization.. 

Veteran' Shoot is April 14, 2012.  Start working on companies now to get donations and contributions. (stay tuned for more details)
