Officer Reports

President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)

Wayne talked about the Executive Board meeting held January 19th 2017 at his home for the officers. He also spoke about our website being updated and Jamie Adams has been working on that. You should start to see a migration of data from our old site to this one. The Boat & Sport show event was a great success where SCA staffed an archery/ BB gun booth in conjunction with the St. Louis Longbeards. Thank you to all of those who graciously volunteered their time. There were lots of participants and we were able to sell lots of raffle tickets for a kids Genesis bow. The drawing for the bow will be March 11, 2017 at our SCA March Madness Tournament.

Wayne also discussed the SCA constitution which was carried forward from last years executive team and is being revised. Mike Gapsch, Henry Drane, Jon Adams, Tony Taylor, Frank Hruby & others help put the finished touches on this version. Copies were available at the February meeting. We will be voting to ratify this newly proposed Constitution at our March meeting. Our SCA-club membership application is currently being revised and will be ready for our upcoming applicants. Wayne also discussed our MDC grant that was awarded to SCA and we need all items completed by April 1, 2017. Tom Rizzo was getting things lined up for work to begin.

The annual pioneer harvest dinner held at Oakville Baptist church was attended by several club members including Wayne. He met Steve Stoltz National Turkey Calling champion and a couple others good contacts. They discussed possible P.R opportunities for SCA and maybe getting a quarterly guest speaker at our monthly meeting.

Lastly, the NASP tournament at Seckman high school is Saturday February 11, 2017. We could use a few more volunteers for this event. We can also sell raffle tickets for our Genesis Bow.

Vice-President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)

Mike talked with Jamie Adams about the transition of our Website and the transitioning updates. It was also brought up about having a mapping feature showing the Jefferson Barracks range on our site.

Treasurer’s Report (Henry Drane)

Checks were written to the following: Oakville Elks, Porta-Potty, & Others. The club remains fiscally sound.

Range Captain’s Report (Tom Munroe)

Master Bowhunter Recorder (Ken Winkelman)

Ken thanked everyone who participated in the Boat show event. Ken is keeping track of member volunteer hours for the club. Report your successful animal harvests to Ken. Remember the current guidelines for reporting are for a Calendar year so it is only for animals taken thru December 31, 2016. All January harvests will count for the 2017 season.

Park Representative Report (Tom Rizzo)

Tom said the County Parks dept has given SCA the approval to move forward and rebuild the bale building door. It is dire need or replacement. Tom has been working on a materials list for our approved range improvements that were listed on MDC grant application and is coordinating with the contractor(s) and volunteers needed to begin.

Membership Secretary Report (Tony Taylor)

Tony thanked those members who have already renewed their 2017 SCA memberships and reminded us that all SCA memberships are due by April 1, 2017. The annual membership dues of $25 for an individual or $30 for a family are good from April 1 to March 31 the following year. Please get your membership updated on time.

Tournament Secretary Report (Todd Mikel)

We need to order approximately 4 target inserts and perhaps 3-4 new targets to be ready for our upcoming tournaments. He was going to see what trophies we needed to have replenished as well. He also asked about the status of bow hangers that others were working on. Also, commented about needing to get the March Madness flyers printed & distributed.

Motion was mad by Jon Adams to proceed with ordering more SCA apparel. That motion was approved by a majority present.

Zack King was going to check out a couple of possible places to have our SCA banquet for the following year and let us know in the upcoming meetings what he was able to find.

Possible hosting a guest speaker once a quarter. Everyone in attendance thought that was a great idea for SCA to do.

Revised SCA Constitution will be voted on at the March meeting for ratification

Tom Rizzo spoke about possible upcoming legislative changes that may be attacking the MDC like in the past. They want to remove the MDC from being able to manage the deer herd and also take over the 1/8 or 1% conservation sales tax that is currently enforce. Tom will keep us updated as things progress.
