Officer Reports
President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)
Wayne commented on the outstanding look of the archery range and wanted to especially thank Tom Rizzo and Todd Mikel for all the hours of work & dedication they’ve recently put into making the range look so good. The club received correspondence from the South East Deer Study (SEDS) for the contribution SCA made to their organization last year. We also have all the receipts & pics together and have them turned into Missouri Department of Conservation for reimbursement or the MDC grant that SCA received. Also, the Veterans’ group shoots kick off May 1st and is held the first and third Wednesday of the month. Our March Madness tournament feedback was great. Shooters thought the course was both fair and challenging. Now we look towards our upcoming Veteran’s tournament which is Saturday May 20th. Lastly, one of the important topics of discussion of this meeting was going over the “New Membership” process and newly approved membership application form. We are looking forward to the positive impact these will have. Should you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask Wayne. Wayne also asked the membership the question of; should SCA buy a bow to raffle off at our Veteran’s Tournament.
Vice-President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)
Mike said bow raffle is a bad idea at this point. It’s too late in the game to have enough promotion. Mike made a motion to purchase a pop-up canopy for the club. That motion was approved. Mike also said we are working on getting a guest speaker for our June meeting.
Secretary Report (Jon Adams)
Treasurer’s Report (Henry Drane)
Henry brought his financial report spreadsheet and went over it. His report was approved by those present. Henry also discussed the increase in camp fee for using Si Colburn campground. The fee is $7/per person/per day and we have to guarantee payment for at least 35 people. We will be working on the club hunt costs as we get closer to the club hunt. See Henry if you are interested in attending. Checks were written to the following: Oakville Elks, & Others. The club remains fiscally sound.
Range Captain’s Report (Tom Munroe)
Tom said all is good on the range.
Master Bowhunter Recorder (Ken Winkelman)
Turkey season is arriving soon. Please report any archery harvests to Ken. Also, there has been a change in dates for the Master Bow Hunter Award. The old dates were based on a Calendar year and ended on December 31st of that year. The new dates now coincide with the expiration of your yearly small game hunting license issued by the conservation department usually the end of February.
Park Representative Report (Tom Rizzo)
Tom said he received a call from the park rangers about a broad head that was found in the parking lot. They want us to keep an eye out and help prevent those on the range. Also, Tom gave a summary of the money that was spent on buying rock, wood handrail materials, blower/mister, labor to move the asphalt cinders and other related expenses.
Membership Secretary Report (Tony Taylor)
Tony wanted to remind everyone to renew their memberships. He also said that effective as of this meeting he would be resigning as membership secretary. In the interim Jon Adams will be handling all of the renewals and membership applications of new members.
Tournament Secretary Report (Todd Mikel)
Unable to attend.
New Business/Old Business
The American Legion organization that supports our Veterans Shoot and performs our flag raising ceremony has a meat shoot scheduled for the first Sunday in June.
Club hunt scheduled for October 5,6,7,8 of 2017. Once we get the number of attendees we can calculate the average cost per person. The hunt is always extremely reasonable in cost. You can’t get that kind of facility at the cost we do. More details to follow.
Wayne Vetter commented that he felt the club is heading in the right decision with the new membership process and the new constitution in place.
Motion made to adjourn.
