Officer Reports

President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)

Wayne opened the meeting my mentioning that the April newsletters were on all the tables for those to read. Wayne talked about the John Woods memorial Tournament and the fact that we need a place to host it. He also believes that we should shoot this away from our home range. One of our challenges is the fact that two of our options for shooting is the day following our big deer classic archery tournament. The options are Jefferson County Bowhunters and St. Louis Bowhunters. Wayne also mentioned about the pop-up canopy that was approved for purchase but no one had made the purchase yet. He also brought to everyone’s attention that SCA will have a guest speaker at our June meeting “Steve Stoltz”. We need brochures to distribute for the June 1, 2017 meeting and members will be given 2 drink coupons and guests will be allowed to purchase beverages from the Elks Club “Cash” bar. June 3, 2017 will be our first kids shoots in conjunction with the Parks Department.

Treasurer’s Report (Henry Drane)

Henry said that our April revenue was very light due to the fun shoot rainouts with all the inclement weather. Henry also said Jon Adams has SCA club hats for purchase if anyone wants one. The club remains fiscally sound.

Range Captain’s Report (Tom Munroe)

Tom said all is good on the range. The range hasn’t had much activity due to all the Spring rains.

Master Bowhunter Recorder (Ken Winkelman)

Ken had nothing to report regarding recent harvests. He said he would like the Masterbowhunter program reviewed for changes.

Park Representative Report (Tom Rizzo)

Unable to Attend

Membership Secretary Report (Jon Adams-Interim)

This position is currently vacant.

Tournament Secretary Report (Todd Mikel)

Unable to attend.

New Business/Old Business

Wayne asked how many members visit our website http://www.southcountyarchers.com and encouraged everyone to visit the website the week prior to our monthly meeting.

The Veterans shoot is fast approaching May 20, 2017. Tom Munroe said we will begin setup at 6:00am. Those wanting breakfast before should meet at the Waffle House on Telegraph & hwy 255.

Henry made a layout on the club hunt related costs. The executive board will be discussing the cost breakdown for members and non-members and further information in the next couple of meetings.

The Big Game Hunters are holding a Raffle for Firearms and Wayne announced an opportunity to support them by purchasing tickets. BGH has supported SCA in the past with monetary donations.

We still need to have another work day or two to finish installing handrails on some of the shooting lanes and the additional bow hangers.

Club hunt scheduled for October 5,6,7,8 of 2017. Once we get the number of attendees we can calculate the average cost per person. The hunt is always extremely reasonable in cost. You can’t get that kind of facility at the cost we do. More details to follow.
