President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)

Wayne congratulated the newly voted in members to SCA membership. An executive board meeting was held prior to our regularly scheduled monthly meeting and the following applicants were accepted into membership: Malcolm Grundy, Ben Arnold, Fred Gerber, Terry Avery & Kevin Butz. Wayne wanted to thank Jon Adams for his help with the rebuilding of the bale building doors. There were several others who helped out the following Wednesday with painting and trimming out the frame of the doors. So a big “Thank You” to those members as well. It was a much needed project to protect targets on the inside. The existing doors were literally hanging by the hinges.

We have our next kid’s fun shoot on Saturday August 5, 2017 and setup will begin at 8:00am. Wayne will be on vacation and volunteers are needed for demonstration, setup & take-down. In addition, our annual Deer Classic 30 target 3-D Archery tournament is Saturday August 19, 2017 and the John Woods memorial tournament (For Members Only) will be Sunday August 27, 2017 at the Quail Club located in Belleville, IL. Vice-President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)

Mike now has SCA setup on a calling roster to keep everyone updated on when important events are being held or cancellations. If we do not have a good contact number for you please let Jon Adams & Mike Gapsch know. You will be receiving a call from a (405 Area code) it’s an Oklahoma phone number but it will leave a message if you don’t answer. Mike has the deer classic flyers and there is still time to round up additional lane sponsors. It’s now time to renew the existing ones and seek new sponsors. Please go out and talk to business owners you know about supporting our club by being a sponsor.

Secretary Report (Jon Adams)

We have several new members who have signed up. If anyone would like to purchase SCA apparel we have hats, polo shirts & T-shirts available for purchase. See Jon for details & to check available sizes.

Treasurer’s Report (Henry Drane)

(Unable to attend) However, our club remains financially sound.

Range Captain’s Report (Tom Munroe)

Tom said we need to install the extra bow hangers, trim trees & lanes and put up the additional handrails.

Master Bowhunter Recorder (Ken Winkelman)

Ken had nothing to report regarding recent harvests. Opening season will be starting in weeks. Please remember to send Ken your harvests for recording.

Park Representative Report (Tom Rizzo)

Tom said the new bale building doors looks great! He was talking with Muggs about getting the tree in the swamp area cut before our Deer Classic event.

Membership Secretary Report (Jon Adams-Interim)

Congratulations to the newly voted in members of SCA. We are proud to have you. We’ve had several new applicants’ sign up and participate in our monthly meetings & fun shoot events. (Remember two club events must be attended with at least one of those being a monthly meeting for the board to vote on new memberships) Many have completed this already and many more just need to attend the meeting. See Jon Adams with any questions.

Tournament Secretary Report (Todd Mikel)

Unable to attend.

New Business/Old Business

Need volunteers to help with the kids shoot scheduled for Saturday August 5, 2017? See Wayne for details.

Motion was made by Mike Gapsch that the club will pay for half the entry fee for any member in good standing who wants to shoot the John Wood’s Memorial shoot. That motion carried and passed by the majority present. The shoot is Sunday August 27, 2017 at the Quail Club located in Belleville, IL. Meet there at 8:00am

August starts nominations for SCA Officer’s. Let an officer know if you would like to be nominated for an upcoming officer’s position.

The SCA October monthly meeting will be moved to Tuesday October 3, 2017 for this meeting only due to our SCA club hunt October 4,5,6,7.

MDC will be taking public comments on September 7, 2017 at Powder Valley Conservation area beginning at 7:00pm.

We still need to have another work day or two to finish installing handrails on some of the shooting lanes and the additional bow hangers, tank inventory on the bale building and rebuild bale building doors.

TIME TO BEGIN SIGNING UP! Club hunt scheduled for October 5,6,7,8 of 2017. Once we get the number of attendees we can calculate the average cost per person. The hunt is always extremely reasonable in cost. You can’t get that kind of facility at the cost we do. More details to follow.

There was a question about who SCA should bring in for their next guest speaker. We had quite a few raise their hand to have a Private Land Specialist from the department of conservation come & speak. SCA will be looking into this request.

Motion made to adjourn.
