Officer Reports

President’s Report (Wayne Sluhan)

SCA hosted its final shoot for the 2017 shooting season where we help assist disabled veterans enjoy the sport of archery thru a special program in conjunction with the VA Hospital. This last session was for those who were in wheelchairs. Thanks to all of the volunteers thru-out the year who make this such a success.

Reminder that our October monthly club meeting will be moved from the first Thursday of the month to the first Tuesday October 3, 2017 due to a conflict with our club hunt scheduled.

We will be hosting our next member appreciation night on Wednesday October 4, 2017. This is also our last shoot of the year.

Our John Woods Memorial shoot was a great success and was held over Illinois at the Quail Club in Belleville. Congrats to the winner Kerry Cook for another great score. That’s two year running for Kerry.

Vice-President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)

Mike is working on tallying up the overall monies collected for our SCA Lane Sponsorship program and thus far seems to be at or above the $5,000 dollar mark. Thanks to all of those who help solicit sponsors for this event. This is our clubs big fund raiser to maintain our shooting range.

Secretary Report (Jon Adams)

If you know someone who you feel would be a good fit for our club please invite them to attend our functions and help sponsor them to become active members. Also, if anyone would like to purchase SCA apparel we have hats, polo shirts & T-shirts available for purchase. See Jon for details & to check available sizes.

Membership Secretary Report (Jon Adams-Interim)

We are growing! We continue to see new applicants sign up and participate in our monthly meetings & fun shoot events. (Remember two club events must be attended with at least one of those being a monthly meeting for the board to vote on new memberships) Many have completed this already and many more just need to attend the meeting. See Jon Adams with any questions.

Tournament Secretary Report (Todd Mikel)

Unable to attend.

New Business/Old Business

Need more participation from the membership to assist with setting up and taking down the 3D targets on our Wednesday night fun shoot events and other club sanctioned events.

Need to discuss and plan our SCA Awards Banquet.

Future guest speaker ideas: Private Land Specialist, How to hunt public areas, rattling & using scents

August started nominations for SCA Officer’s. Let an officer know if you would like to be nominated for an upcoming officer’s position.

The SCA October monthly meeting will be moved to Tuesday October 3, 2017 for this meeting only due to our SCA club hunt October 4,5,6,7.

MDC will be taking public comments on September 7, 2017 at Powder Valley Conservation area beginning at 7:00pm.

We still need to have another work day or two to finish installing handrails on some of the shooting lanes and the additional bow hangers, tank inventory on the bale building and rebuild bale building doors.

TIME TO BEGIN SIGNING UP! Club hunt scheduled for October 5,6,7,8 of 2017. Once we get the number of attendees we can calculate the average cost per person. The hunt is always extremely reasonable in cost. You can’t get that kind of facility at the cost we do. More details to follow.

Motion made to adjourn.
