Officer Reports

President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)
Work day is next Saturday, March 14 8 am at the range – make sure you check in so you can get credit – a planning discussion was held

Two new signs have been added near the pavilion stating that crossbows are now permitted and added safety.
If you harvested anything this year, be sure to get trophy plates to Ken Winkelman to have them engraved.

Banquet is March 22nd – deadline is 3/17 – be sure to invite friends and family, it’s a lot of fun!

A flier was designed showcasing all tournaments – please share – Mike Gapsch has 200 hard copies that can be distributed to promote – first tournament is March 28.

April 1st is the first Wednesday shoot
Crossbows can be used throughout the entire range during tournaments and Wednesday night shoots but are only allowed on lanes 1-9 all other times.

3 pallets of target material, frame material, a sprayer, a pull behind, and rock were purchased thanks to the grant.

For the work day – it is suggested to bring 5/16th wrenches, cordless drills, levels, shovels, and pliers.

An updated phone list was requested – privacy concerns were raised – no decision made at this time.

Officer Reports

President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)
We had a meeting with Parks – Crossbows will be open at the first 9 targets – they also recommended creating benches along those first 9 targets – additional storage was discussed but no decisions were made – a new letter of agreement is being drafted between the club and the Parks Department for 2021.

Four inches of gravel along the range has been ordered and will be delivered pending weather.

Sports show went well – special thanks to Mitch and the Turkey Federation for providing us a bow which was raffled off for the benefit of the club – The Turkey Federation is selling tickets ($45 single/$60 couple – includes Federation Membership) for their annual banquet on the 14th
of March, see Mitch.

Had a meeting with Bass Pro – they agreed to have us in August again to sell burgers & hotdogs as well as raffle tickets and promote the club – the date is tentatively set for August 1st & 2nd.

A Constitution Review Committee has been formed per the Constitution.

Awards banquet is March 22nd, see Henry for tickets – the event starts at 5pm with food served at 6pm.

Feb 22nd is NASP tournament – all shifts are currently covered.

Work day is March 14th at the range.

Spring Warm Up is March 28th – Back up day pending rain out is April 4th.

6 pallets of target material, frame material, a sprayer, a pull behind, and rock were purchased thanks to the grant. A discussion was had about placing foam under the targets in the bottoms in an attempt to
improve target conditions in the event of water coming up.

Last year, funds were allocated from The Boat Show to the Club Hunt for those who assisted in The Boat Show weekend – The year prior was for parking at the Boat Show – A motion to vote on this years allocation was held, we will maintain last years allocation.

Officer Reports

President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)
Had a meeting with St. Louis County Parks and they will be allowing crossbows on targets 1-9 on a 12 month trial basis. If anyone still has raffle tickets outstanding, please get them turned in ASAP. We will be starting a new program this year, Share the harvest for members. If you would like to be put on the list to receive venison or other harvest please contact Mike Gapsch for further details. The Deer Classic had a great turnout again this year! Thank you to all members who came out to help and volunteer your valuable time. We had a good turnout for our August shooter appreciation night. Thank You Matt Schwartz for stepping up and doing a great job cooking for everyone. Reminder; That October 02, 2019 is our last Wednesday Night Fun Shoot for 2109, and it is also our annual Keightley Fish & Turkey Fry. You don’t want to miss this night as we will also be drawing our 2019 raffle winners. Donations are being accepted for the Fish fry contact Mike Gapsch if you have some extra fish or other items that you would like to donate to the annual Keightley Fish & Turkey Fry. Range is looking good since Jim Keener did all that work weed whacking. Thank You Jim! Welcome; Dexter Keuss to your first SCA meeting. If anyone is in possession of any of SCA BBQ utensils please get them returned ASAP. President’s Report ( Mike Gapsch ) Kid shoot is this weekend July 13th at JB Sat 7/20 9am – 8pm and Sun 7/21 9am – 6pm Bass Pro Shop, St. Charles – we are selling bratwurst, raffle tickets, and helping the kids with archery – pricing on raffle tickets and bratwursts was discussed – the club is looking for volunteers, see Mike Gapsch if interested – folded chairs are recommended, everything else will be provided.

Sponsorships are now on sale, see Mike. Sold raffle tickets need to have money and extra raffle tickets turned back in The last Wed of the month is Member appreciation – we will be serving smoked pulled pork. The deer classic is coming up and they will be looking for help August 17th, see Mike.

Email was received from teacher from Windsor about hosting a summer program called
“Become an Outdoor Kid” – Request for volunteers – Starts June 5th.  President Gapsch will contact Wayne Sluhan for more details and report back.
Motion made that all sponsors are automatically considered a member in good standing as a perk of membership and are not expected to maintain hours–Motion passed
Motion made to allocate money 50% of money made from Sport Show to Club Hunt
The Spring Warm Up did not have enough feedback about the use of range finders–Discussion tabled to May – Discussion resumed–feedback was positive from non-members–Motion made to maintain use of range finders–Motion passed.
Bass Pro had a “Women’s Day”.  SCA members assisted with the archery area
We have the option to do a BBQ and sell raffle tickets at the Bass Pro location
–looking for volunteers and dates–an email will be sent to members.
Keener proposed amendment to Bow Hunter Award that anyone who has a medical reason to use a crossbow would not be penalized for the Master Game Hunter Award
Discontinuing offering bug spray at all shoots due to price––motion to Passed

Boat Show Schedule Set.

New flyers were created to distribute at the show to everyone who is interested in the club.

NASP –Feb 16th–All shifts covered

Master Bow Hunter competition runs until Feb 28th

Harvest Contest –Nobody has qualified due to a lack of participation of emails & pictures

Reminder: to receive an award or trophy, you must be a member in good standing

Flyers were made & tickets are available for purchase to the banquet on March 24, 2019

Handgun raffle tickets are now available –Contact Malcolm Grundy

Bass Pro has agreed to work with us and become more involved with the club. Details to come.

Announcement of date change for Spring Warm-Up Tournament –New date is March 30, 2019

The club is exploring getting a bow for raffle prior to the Boat Show. Parking options for the Boat Show were discussed and tabled.

Last year’s gun raffle was extremely successful so the club is looking into options to do another raffle this year with a similar pistol.

The Big Game Hunters grant was applied for –the club was asked to sell raffle tickets for Big Game Hunters –A motion was made to purchase two tickets and passed.

See Ken’s emails for details on all harvests recorded this year. Per Ken this is one of the highest number of entries submitted and a pretty close race at the top. Continue to email him your pictures as the season winds down. Posting to Facebook, though appreciated and encouraged, is not considered a submission to Master Bowhunter Scoring. Good luck down the stretch.

Award banquet is 3/24 so all harvests need to be reported before the end of January.

Don’t forget to turn in your Hours, you must have 8 hours through the year to be eligible for awards.

Vice-President’s Report (Mike Gapsch)

Wayne is doing daily therapy and making progress. No meeting in November due to peak rut hunting season. December meeting will be on December 6th and also the club christmas party.  Encourage everyone to submit ideas for the canned food drive. Gun Raffle winner was Charles Ruggeri (sp). Almost 600 tickets were sold. Motion to send $50 to Gateway Armory to cover costs. Motion was passed by majority. Looking for ideas for another raffle for 2019–guns seem to be the most popular and best ticket seller. Club hunt is 10-11-18 through 10-14-18. 25 paid with 3 pending. 17 sponsorship renewals–please get out and support these business. Harvest contest continues.

We have a need for some new inserts for 3D targets. We have unused credit with Rinehart. Motion to allocate $3500 to purchase necessary targets and inserts. Motion approved by majority.

Henry Drane suggested first time shooters for club shoots get member pricing if they
provide us with personal info (email/phone #) to be added to contact lists.  Ken  Winkelman suggested we need to get an assement of gravel/rock for the range lanes. Tony Taylor suggested we get details together on spraying honeysuckle at the range before the spring green up.
